Designations
CFA
- Chartered Financial Analyst
http://cfainstitute.org
The CFA credential
is recognized
as a global symbol
of integrity
and excellence
throughout the
investment industry.
While difficult
to obtain – only
5,000 to 6,000
CFA candidates
each year successfully
complete the
program’s requirements
to earn the right
to use the prestigious
CFA designation
– there are currently
more than 68,000
CFA charterholders
in 120 countries.
The CFA Charter
is awarded to
investment professionals
who demonstrate
professional,
educational and
ethical excellence.
Core elements
of the CFA curriculum
include investment
tools (e.g. economics,
financial statement
analysis, quantitative
analysis), asset
valuation, ethical
and professional
standards and
portfolio management.
The exam has
a pass rate of
only about 50
percent at each
level, on average
– meaning that
only about one
out of five candidates
who enter the
program ultimately
complete it successfully
and earn the
CFA charter.
Each exam requires
a recommended
250 hours of
intensive self
study and preparation.
